Everything's Coming Up Purim - A Broadway Revue:
Synopsis

The play is a series of vignettes which are woven together by the narrators, Comedy and Tragedy.  Each vignette tells one aspect of the Purim story and each vignette is representative of a different Broadway play.  As part of their introduction to each scene, Comedy and Tragedy sing a few lines from a song in the play.
I have written the names of the original songs, all of which have been rewritten into parodies.

The public record is read to him and he realizes that Mordecai discovered a plot to kill him.  He wants to reward him.  Haman enters and suggests that Mordecai be dressed in the King’s best black leather jacket and driven around town in the King’s best Harley—the Schmaltz Lightning.  Mordecai sings to a chorus Greased Lightning.

SCENE TWELVE – Meeting Haman’s sons
Based on the play The Lion King
Only guessing that Haman’s sons are as ambitious and despicable, they sing about their desire to one day rule the kingdom.  They sing I Just Can’t Wait to be King.  In our play we used children to come out dressed as animals as a backdrop. This is optional.

Esther accused Haman.  The King orders him to be hanged.  Haman sings his swan song, Those Were the Good Old Days (from Damn Yankees)

FINALE

Finale is There’s No Business Like Show Business.

A TASTE OF ONE OF THE SONGS
Everything’s Coming Up Purim

We will kvell, we will shout,
Cause that’s what it’s all about.
Starting here, starting now,
Dahling, everything’s coming up  Purim.

Mordecai, he’s our guy
And Haman we know he will die.
Esther dear, she’ll appear.
Dahling, everything’s coming up Purim.

Tell the story, from beginning to end.
Boast our glory, in fact it is mandatory.

Curtain’s up, it’s act one
We promise you will have fun.
We will sing, we will dance.
We will swing and romance.
And don’t forget to clap when we are through.

Dahlings, everything’s coming up brave, gallant heroes
Everything’s coming up happy tomorrows.
Everything’s coming up bring colored rainbows
Everything’s coming up Purim for me and for you!
